The LivingWell Festival in Shrewsbury

Updated: Jun 17

Yesterday was one of those glorious summer days when the sun hung high and golden, the sky was a radiant blue, and even the birds seemed to be observing the rhythm of a beautiful, laid back Sunday. Luckily for me, I had a wonderful wellbeing festival to attend -the LivingWell festival in Shrewsbury -and it was just a short walk to get there, along the picturesque river in the town's gorgeous park.

This free, family-friendly event featured over 100 stalls showcasing holistic wellbeing practices, ethical brands, handmade items and mindful living tools. It offered a vibrant community atmosphere where visitors enjoyed expert-led talks and workshops that provided fresh insights into physical, mental and spiritual balance. It was truly a beautiful experience of self-care, connection and exploration -exactly what a summer wellbeing gathering should be!

I made a little video of my day, which can be viewed here, and I hope it successfully conveys the feel-good vibes!

I love wellbeing festivals. In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to forget to pause, breathe and check in with ourselves, but these immersive events provide the perfect opportunity to slow down and reconnect with what really matters: your health, happiness and personal growth. They offer dedicated time to put yourself first and send an important message to your body and mind that your wellbeing matters and that you deserve to spend time focussing on it. Whether you're participating in a guided meditation, learning about herbalism or simply browsing the offerings without your phone buzzing, these festivals create space for self-care that often gets pushed aside in everyday life.

There’s also something powerful about being surrounded by people who are all on a similar journey: exploring wellness, healing and self-discovery. The atmosphere is routinely welcoming and non-judgmental, making it easy to form genuine connections with others who share your interests, values and curiosity.

From sound baths and cacao ceremonies to breathwork and traditional medicine workshops, these festivals offer a treasure trove of ideas and possibilities. You can discover practices you’ve never heard of, learn from experienced facilitators and leave with practical tools to support your wellbeing going forwards. One of the highlights of many such festivals is the line-up of speakers. These talks can be eye-opening, thought-provoking and deeply motivating -at the LivingWell festival, we learnt about a range of fascinating wellbeing approaches, from shanshin health to growing your own medicine.

Living according to your values is one of the most important foundations for genuine happiness. When your actions reflect what truly matters to you -whether that’s kindness, creativity, honesty, freedom or wellbeing -life feels more meaningful and fulfilling. You’re not just going through the motions and paying lip service; you’re living with intention. So if good health and wellbeing is important to you, I'd urge you to seek out wellbeing events and festivals in your area and make an effort to go. Because when you immerse yourself in environments that reflect your values, you naturally strengthen your connection to them -and to yourself.
