An Integrative, Client-Centered Approach

Wellbeing needs are deeply personal, and Thrive Senses recognises that no two people are the same. Sessions are thoughtfully tailored to the individual and may support areas such as stress, anxiety, confidence, resilience, purpose, emotional wellbeing and overall life satisfaction. Together, we explore what feels most supportive and useful, shaping sessions in a way that reflects your goals, preferences and circumstances. Depending on your needs, this may draw upon a blend of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including counselling techniques, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).

Wellbeing Coaching

Wellbeing coaching is at the heart of the Thrive Senses approach. Sessions are designed to help individuals feel more balanced, resilient and fulfilled, while making meaningful, sustainable changes that support overall wellbeing. Drawing on principles of positive psychology, coaching focuses on building strengths such as confidence, optimism, emotional flexibility and self-awareness, helping people feel better equipped to navigate life’s challenges and flourish over time.

Every person is different, so sessions are always tailored to individual needs and goals. While wellbeing coaching remains the central focus, aspects of counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) may be gently incorporated where helpful, providing additional support, practical tools and deeper insight when needed. The emphasis is always on helping individuals move forward in a way that feels manageable, meaningful and aligned with their values.

Counselling

At times, a counselling-informed approach can be especially valuable, offering space to pause, reflect and talk openly in a supportive, non-judgemental environment. Living away from familiar support systems, adjusting to change, navigating relationships, parenting pressures, loneliness or periods of emotional overwhelm can sometimes leave people feeling stuck or depleted. Having the opportunity to explore thoughts, feelings and experiences aloud can bring greater clarity and perspective, while helping individuals better understand themselves and move forward with greater confidence and self-compassion.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) & Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

At other times, drawing on aspects of CBT or ACT can provide more structured support around particular difficulties, such as persistent stress, anxiety, overthinking, self-doubt or feeling overwhelmed by day-to-day demands. A CBT-informed approach may help identify patterns of thinking or behaviour that feel unhelpful or difficult to shift, while introducing healthier and more constructive ways of responding. ACT-informed techniques take a slightly different perspective, combining mindfulness, self-awareness and values-based action to help individuals respond more flexibly to difficult thoughts and emotions, while continuing to move towards what matters most to them.

Anxiety Reduction

You don't need to have everything figured out before booking a session. Many people arrive unsure of exactly what they are feeling, what they need, or where to begin, and that is completely okay. Together, we gently explore what feels most important and identify an approach that feels supportive and appropriate for you.

Thrive Senses aims to create an experience that feels comfortable, encouraging and emotionally safe from the outset. Everything shared during sessions is treated with complete confidentiality, and there is never any expectation to discuss anything before you feel ready. Equally, there is no obligation to continue beyond a single appointment. The priority is always to ensure you feel at ease, understood and able to move forward at a pace that feels right for you.

"I wasn't sure what to expect, but right from the first session it felt like a fog was beginning to lift. Sarah's really helped me to understand myself and change the way I look at things. I'm not so hard on myself now and feel a lot more positive."

"As you know, I booked an appointment on the recommendation of a friend. I was feeling a bit lost and directionless. The sessions are really helping me realise what's holding me back. I'm recognising my strengths and learning how to use them. I'm feeling a lot more confident about the future now. Thank you Sarah, you're worth your weight in gold."

"I first went because I had something I was dreading coming up and my anxiety was raging. Sarah is so calming and positive. She's really made me recognise why I get like this and she's given me great ways to deal with it. I decided to keep going and I'm really starting to feel like a different person!"

"Why? Because I just love going! It's my weekly treat to myself! Getting things off my chest and working through my worries. It's really helped me cope with living in a new place. I can't thank you enough!"

"I feel like crying writing this, honestly, but I'm so glad I found you. It's such a relief being able to get it all out to someone who's so kind and understanding. `Even though I know I probably cost you a fortune in Kleenex (sorry about that!) You really help me keep things in perspective and make me feel good about myself. I feel stronger every week. Thank you x"
